People hold on to unique or colored marketing materials 10 times longer than they hold onto white ones. When your business materials stand out, customers remember who you are. Materials with a professional print finish will create a memorable impression of your business.

If you are looking for a way to make your marketing materials stand out, quality print finishing services are the way to go. Here’s a guide to the best print finishing services to consider.

What is Print Finishing?

Print finishing is a process or technique used to take your printed materials to the next level. It’s the final step, usually done at or near the end of the printing process for your promotional materials. There are two types of print finishing services.

They are inline and offline finishes. Inline finishes are performed at the end of the printing process, just before the product comes off the printing press. Offline methods are the most common and are done separately from the printing process.

Here are some of the most common print finishing techniques used today.

Foil Stamping

This process uses heat and pressure to apply foil to the product. The heat releases the color and binds it to the surface. It’s the only way to apply a bright, non-tarnishable effect.

Foil stamping isn’t limited solely to metallic effects. Other effects include marble or snakeskin and wood grains.

Some companies offer holographic foils as an extra design element. These can deter counterfeiters. You can use this process for scratch-off foils in scratch and win products or designs.

You can use many different colors, pigments, and tints. Finishes may include various levels of matte or gloss.

Die Cutting

At Tru-Cut LLC, die-cutting is a specialty, and we can handle business card sizes up to 40-inch full-size sheets. We offer many substrates, including paper, board, corrugated, and plastics.

Specialty UV Coatings

We apply a liquid and cure it with UV light. That creates a glossy effect on the surface and is great for magazines or calendars. This is a more environmentally friendly process than the chemical process used in the past.

If you want a truly unique product, try one of the many custom UV coatings available. They include UV Glitter, UV Profile, UV Satin, UV on Uncoated, UV Tinted, UV Textured, or UV Matte techniques.

Embossing and Debossing

Embossing uses pressure and heat to create a raised image, giving a 3-dimensional effect. Foil embossing combines foil stamping and embossing, creating a unique finish.

Fold and Glue

This process uses specialty machines to create boxes or folders to meet your exact design requirements. Hand-added final touches make a unique product.
